Triton Motorsports' floating disc brake rotors bring true two-piece rotor construction to the Tesla Model S Plaid — a 6061-T6 billet aluminum hat paired with a separate high carbon iron alloy disc, matched to factory size and specifications, and built as a direct replacement for the factory setup.
The Plaid relies on regenerative braking for most everyday stops, but when the friction brakes are called on — hard track use or repeated high-speed stops — they're working against nearly 5,000 lbs of curb weight and tri-motor power. The floating design lets the disc move independently of the hat as heat builds in exactly those moments, reducing the warping a fixed rotor is prone to and keeping performance consistent when it's actually needed.
