Triton Motorsports' floating disc brake rotors bring true two-piece rotor construction to the Mercedes-AMG SL (R232) — a 6061-T6 billet aluminum hat paired with a separate high carbon iron alloy disc, built as a direct replacement for the factory setup with no modification required.
The floating design allows the disc to move independently of the hat as temperatures rise, reducing stress on the braking system and preventing the warping a fixed rotor is prone to under sustained heat. For a grand tourer built to cover serious ground at serious speed, that means more consistent, fade-resistant braking whether you're touring or driving it hard.
Key Features:
- Splitting the rotor from the hat lets each move independently as heat builds, avoiding the warping a fused one-piece disc develops under hard use
- The iron alloy composition holds its thermal performance through repeated hard braking rather than fading
- A 6061-T6 aluminum hat trims unsprung weight versus the factory rotor, supporting sharper handling response
- Installs directly onto the OE hub and caliper — no modifications required
- A rotor that stays true under heat keeps pad contact even, extending pad life
