The factory BMW M8 rotor uses a fixed or riveted connection between the rotor ring and the hub. Under sustained hard braking — repeated high-speed stops, extended mountain descents, or track use — this rigid coupling transmits thermal stress directly from the friction surface into the wheel bearing. The rotor expands as a single unit, pedal feel degrades progressively under heat, and hub temperature rises in ways a true floating design prevents by design.
How Triton's Floating Design Solves It
Triton's BMW M8 brake upgrade uses a G3500 High Carbon Iron Alloy rotor ring mechanically separated from a billet aluminum hat via a floating joint. The ring expands and contracts independently under thermal load — thermal stress stays isolated from the hub and bearing, pedal feel remains linear throughout a driving session, and the rotor geometry stays true regardless of operating temperature. The billet aluminum hat simultaneously reduces unsprung mass at each corner, improving the suspension compliance and turn-in precision that the M8's chassis is capable of but the factory iron hub works against.
